SKAL Hong Kong's primary charitable pursuit is the Rudy Choy Educational Fund (RCEF). Set up in 1992, the RCEF is in memory of Rudy Choy, one of the doyens of Hong Kong's travel industry. The Fund provides award scholarships and grants to students in local universities and technical institutes that offer courses directly related to hospitality, travel and tourism.
Rudy was instrumental in the founding of the Hong Kong Tourist Association and Hong Kong Hotel Association and played leading roles in them throughout his working life. He was Marketing Director of the East Asia Travel Association (EATA), a Life Member of SKAL Hong Kong (having twice served as its president) and a Life Member of Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA).
Over the years, SKAL Hong Kong has raised several millions dollars for the RCEF through industry events and donations, helping to develop the careers of tomorrow's industry leaders.
Young SKAL is an initiative to provide invaluable opportunities for Hong Kong's hospitality students as well as those taking their first career steps to meet and network amongst hotel, travel and tourism decision makers.
Young SKAL is the ideal platform for SKAL members to connect with outstanding emerging talent within the industry.
